If the cost of the medicine exceeds the listed maximum price to patient, the cost of your medicine will be subsidised by Medicare. The amount you pay will contribute towards your medicines safety net.

Concession

If you have a valid Medicare card and a pension, health care card, DVA health card or concessional safety net card, you are considered to be a concessional patient and entitled to concession pricing. If you have a valid Medicare card and an entitlement safety net card, you are considered to be an entitlement patient and entitled to safety net pricing. This pricing applies to PBS medicines, listed as a subsidised medicine by Medicare Australia. The cost of your medicine is subsidised by Medicare.

If you reach the Safety Net threshold within a calendar year, you will qualify to receive PBS medicines at a reduced price or free of charge for the remainder of that year. You will be issued with a safety net concessional or entitlement card.

Authority prescriptions

Some PBS subsidised medications are restricted and only subsidised under specific circumstances. These prescriptions require approval from Medicare Australia in order receive at a subsidised rate. These prescriptions are flagged as Authority Required. An approved authority prescription will have an authority prescription number and a valid approval number. If we do not have your Authority quantity listed for purchase on our website please click here to request it.

What are generics?

Generic medicines contain the same active ingredient in the same strength as the original brand of medicine. Generic medicines are rigorously tested to prove they have the same effect on the body as the original brand of medicine. In many cases, generic medicines will be more affordable for you.

Dispensing multiple packs or multiple repeats

Pharmacists are medicines experts and responsible for ensuring that medicines use is safe and appropriate. Pharmacists are also required to meet all applicable legal and professional obligations. Multiple packs may only be legally and safely supplied to a patient under doctor’s instructions. The prescription must be endorsed by the doctor to allow the dispensing of multiple repeats or written for multiple packs where the doctor deems appropriate.

What are Electronic Prescriptions?

An electronic prescription is a digital version of a paper prescription and are currently available as a ‘token’.  A ‘token’ refers to a QR code that will be given to you by your Doctor, either via email, SMS or printed on paper. You can take your 'token' to your local Good Price Pharmacy Warehouse for dispensing, or shop online where you can easily upload a Copy, Scan, or Photo of your Electronic Prescription (token) in the Prescriptions checkout step.

How do I complete my Electronic Prescription order online?

Once you have your Prescription product in your cart, on the checkout page you can easily upload a Copy, Scan, or Photo of your Electronic Prescription (token) by clicking on the orange UPLOAD FILE button.

Please ensure your image is clear, easy to read and not blurry. Please also ensure your file is no larger than 4 MB in file size and is either a JPG, PNG, or PDF file only. Unfortunately, no other files can be accepted at this time due to enhanced security.

Electronic Prescription upload is not a requirement to complete your Prescription online order so you can continue checking out without uploading your Prescription file, however we do recommend doing so for referencing purposes.  Alternatively, you can email [email protected] once you have completed your order and provide your order number and a copy of your Electronic Prescription.
