Medicine Safety

At Good Price Pharmacy Warehouse, we believe in the safe and effective use of medicines. This includes the safe disposal of medicines when they are longer required. Did you know that medicines that are not disposed of or discarded into household waste or down the toilet, can cause problems?

Medicines, just like food, have expiry dates and taking them past this date may be harmful to you and your family. It is important to regularly clear out your medicine cabinet and bring in expired medicines for disposal.
Don’t be guilty of keeping 'just in case' medicines, especially strong pain killers. Keeping medicines in the house that are no longer of use can lead to the medicines accidentally being misused.
Legal pharmaceutical pain relievers are actually the most common reason for medication related deaths and hospitalisation due to poisoning.

Do not put your medicines in the bin! If disposed on in general waste they end up in landfill, causing damage to the environment and potentially poisoning native animals.
There have also been incidents of small children and pets finding tablets in household bins and ingesting them.

Flushing your unwanted medicines down the toilet is not an option either. Flushed medicines enter waterways, affecting marine life. They can also enter the water table via the sewage treatment process and can potentially affect human and animal life. This can contribute to problems like antibiotic resistance.

It’s time to do a medication cabinet clean and bring in your expired and unwanted medicines. Your local Good Price Pharmacy Warehouse provides the safe disposal of unwanted medicines free of charge. Don’t put in the bin, bring it in!
