My name is Eryn Lawler, and I am a qualified pharmacist currently employed at Good Price Pharmacy Armidale in regional NSW. I completed my Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours at the University of New England, and went on to complete my intern training at Monash University. In order to further my education, I am currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Pharmacy practice through Monash.
Growing up in the rural town of Bowraville, I have always had a passion for providing support to regional communities. During my time as a pharmacy student, I had the opportunity to participate in the Rural Support Program run by the PPA. This program allowed me to travel and promote pharmacy to rural students. Now, as a practicing pharmacist, I am able to provide healthcare support to regional communities, which is something I find personally rewarding.
Good Price Pharmacy Warehouse Intern Development program
In 2022, I participated in the Intern Development program with GPPW. This program allowed me to fine-tune and further enhance skills that I had started to develop while working as a student at GPPW. The program had speakers from specific sections in pharmacy, such as wound care, vitamins, and educational seminars in pharmacy practice. Attending these training sessions gave me the opportunity to connect with other interns, which was really beneficial for me. Working in a regional setting can sometimes feel isolating, so having peer support was a great help.
Intern experience GPPW
The support I received during my internship as a pharmacist was excellent. I had regular meetings with my preceptor, and head office offered guidance whenever I had a question or concern. My internship was well-balanced, allowing me to develop my skills and knowledge of pharmacy under the guidance of my supervisors. This gave me the confidence I needed when I became a registered pharmacist. Now, as a registered pharmacist, the support from head office and the dispensary manager has been invaluable during this exciting time, with regular check-ins to ensure my success.
